Yamba Chamber holds the 3rd Home and Lifestyle Expo on 23rd September at the Yamba Bowling Club. This successful event has over 35 stands representing both new and established businesses. As many of the businesses are home based, this is a wonderful opportunity for them to gain public exposure. The ‘Street Cruise’ project in conjunction with Clarence Valley Council provides an integrated and holistic provision of services for local young people, to inform, occupy and entertain them with crime prevention activities and community spin offs. Last Christmas, with the Chamber’s support, the Council held beach parties, concerts, kite flying activities, and sand modeling competitions, to keep the teenagers occupied and happy, and help reduce the amount of anti-social behavior and malicious damage to the CBD and beach areas.
Following the overwhelming success of our 2006 calendar, Yamba Chamber is about to release the 2008 edition. The twelve participants very bravely bared it all during our chilly winter, and hopefully all the goosebumps were airbrushed out! Proceeds will once again be donated to worthwhile youth initiatives in the town.
Local businesses took advantage in August of the Northern Rivers Business Roadshow to get advice on growing their business and starting new businesses. We hope to hold another seminar in conjunction with Northern Rivers Area Small Business Consultative Committee run by the ATO, dealing with record keeping.
