Byron United is actively working towards producing a town vision of where Byron Bay is going and what it will look like in 20 years. The project is designed to stimulate the community and to engage them in the process. This has been attempted in the past without a tangible result. The key question is; how can anyone successfully plan and act without knowing very clearly what is the desired result?
At present the Byron Shire Council is working towards producing a new LEP within its term. Time constraints mean planners are relying on what knowledge and information they currently hold and the process of submissions after exhibition.
The LEP is an incredibly important document, it will shape the look and function of the town and shire in the future. Without a clear vision, Byron United is concerned that the planning instrument being put forward by Council might not deliver the future the community wants and needs.
