Splendid Splendour

Thousands of music lovers flocked to the Splendour in the Grass festival at Yelgun this weekend.
Revellers were treated to a much-anticipated performances by American hip hop duo Outkast and popster Lily Allen as well as shows by Australian artists including Angus and Julia Stone, Spiderbait and The Presets.
An estimated 27,500 people flocked to the site over the weekend. Tweed Local area commander Superintendent Stuart Wilkins said in general terms Splendour was a really positive festival with no great dramas at all.
He said the mounted police horses were very popular at festival and helped create a relaxed relationship between police and those attending.
Traffic pressures were relieved this year and Superintendent Wilkins said compared to last year, organisers have made great progress on traffic issues.
“It’s difficult with 27,500 people all trying to get out onto the highway at the same time but that’s just about being patient and managing traffic out onto the highway which they have a process in place and they are doing that as we speak,” Superintendent Wilkins said.
