Clarence Valley Council is undertaking a retail study for the Lower Clarence to provide direction for the future commercial growth. Council’s concern was that proposed retail developments may potentially compete with each other
The Maclean Chamber has facilitated a series of meetings with the town’s retail sector and the proposers of the various developments to try and establish which development would be best for the area.
A strong message has been sent to Council to not to approve any proposal that will fragment the existing retail area by out of centre developments.
We want development that makes Maclean a more desirable place to live, work and shop and expand tourism. Opening up access to the Clarence River, will also boost tourism income.
The Chamber has also commenced a monthly newsletter called “Knawlag” which is a Scottish word meaning the condition of being informed or made aware of.
Maclean Chamber is also developing a Website that will highlight the delights of visiting the river town.
