The National Ice Taskforce will visit the Northern Rivers next Tuesday.
The taskforce, which was announced last month by Prime Minister Tony Abbott, is looking into the use of the drug crystal methamphetamine.
Its first sitting was held today in the South Australian regional city of Mount Gambier.
Page MP Kevin Hogan said the panel will hear from police, health, and community groups in Lismore next Tuesday.
“I’ve been getting a lot of good suggestions from nurses, from police, from welfare agencies about some of the solutions, some of the education programs, some of the things that we need to do,” he said.
“There are only, as I understand, three of these consultations happening across the state.
“So I’m really excited that our community and that our frontline services will have input.
“We have invited some specific people who were engaged with the symposium that we had in the community last week, but it is open to the public.
“You do have to register though, so we have to know that you’re coming, but it is open to any member of the community who may feel that they have something to add or want to listen to some of the solutions and the issues that we have.”
