The peak body for the macadamia industry estimates the farm gate prices will rise by $23 million this season.
The Australian Macadamia Society is reporting farm gate prices will hit around $240 million this year as prices continue to rise.
Society CEO Joylon Burnett is thrilled with the results so far.
“We had a very good season, we’ve had a good crop, and at this stage harvest has gone extremely well,” Mr Burnett said.
Strong demand from overseas markets, especially in Europe and Asia, have helped prices continue to rise.
Last year, macadamias were in the top five Australian horticultural exports.
A record yield, up 4% from last year’s crops, has also had an impact on farm gate prices.
“These will combine to add another $30 – 40 million to the farm gate value,” Mr Burnett said.
