Local Talent Emerges as a National Leader

At the 2015 national Customer Owned Banking conference held in Darwin recently, Marketing Manager Kristy Jones from Southern Cross Credit Union was named as winner of the 2015 Emerging Leader Award. This is an outstanding achievement especially as the field of award nominees was drawn from across Australia. .

The award is sponsored by Bridges Financial Services and recognises the significant contribution that young, aspiring leaders can make to the industry, particularly in today’s challenging and changing business environment. As part of the award, Kristy has won $10,000 to continue her professional development, within Australia or overseas.

Kristy is passionate about raising the profile of Southern Cross Credit Union and customer owned banking. ‘People should know there is a better value, customer focused banking experience out there. The personal, social and economic benefits of banking locally where profits are reinvested into our organisation and community are enormous.’

Southern Cross Credit Union CEO Stuart Edwards said the award recognised the hard work and commitment Kristy has shown in developing initiatives that have benefited Southern Cross Credit Union, the customer owned banking industry and our community. It also shows there are exciting career opportunities for young people within the Northern Rivers region.
