Lismore Cafe in Wages Dispute


The owner of a Lismore cafe will have to report its wages to the Fair Work Ombudsman for the next three years after it was found to owe staff almost 140 thousand dollars.

Ejack Proprietary Limited underpaid more than 70 of its staff over more than two years.

The company’s sole director John Kenny has already paid back 45 thousand dollars and has agreed to pay a further 93 thousand dollars.

The investigation into the company was sparked by a complaint from a former employee.

Ejack Pty Ltd failed to pay the minimum rate of pay and also penalty rates on weekends and public holidays.

The director of the company has apologised to his staff and has entered into an enforcable undertaking which requires him to be closely monitored by the fair work department with regular reports and checks from inspectors
