Lismore Airport Project Set For Take Off

Member for Lismore Thomas George today welcomed a NSW Government announcement that Lismore Regional Airport has secured more than $1.5 million in funding to support vital infrastructure upgrades.

Mr George said the funding announcement is a much needed investment for the region, creating jobs and contributing to further local economic and tourism growth.

“With more than $1.5 million committed to fund upgrades at Lismore Airport, necessary improvements for airside upgrades, improved lighting and safety facilities can be made,” Mr George said.

“Lismore is the business, educational and medical centre of the Northern Rivers and this funding will bring a range of benefits to the local economy.”

Minister for Regional Development, Skills and Small Business John Barilaro said the project is among 17 successful projects to receive funding from $35 million made available across regional NSW from the Government’s Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund.

“By funding regional airport infrastructure we’re making a long term investment to create jobs and improve services for residents to support airports with the greatest capacity to increase visitor numbers, stimulating the NSW regional economy,” Mr Barilaro said.
