The Byron Bay Cookie Company is in danger of crumbling.
The Australian Taxation Office lodged an application to wind up the company in the Federal Court last week.
A spokeswoman for the company says its corporate arm has been advised of the ATO court notice.
She says the action is against the manufacturing division.
The company has and outlet and factory in Byron Bay, franchises in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, and bakes under licence in the United Kingdom.
There’s also a distribution office in the United States which appears to be well connected.
The company’s cookies tantalised the tastebuds of ‘Tinseltown’ after being put in the official gift bag given to guests at the Oscars.
As for the court action, the company says it will be attending to the matter and will issue a formal statement in due course.
