Byron Writers Festival Full Program Announced

Byron Writers Festival 2019 (2-4 August) has revealed a powerful and inspiring program featuring more than 140 Australian and international speakers spanning fiction, memoir, crime, environment, society, politics, poetry, art, comedy and music.

Festival audiences can enjoy more than 120 different sessions over three days at Elements of Byron Resort as well as writers’ workshops, a program for children and satellite events in venues across the Northern Rivers region.

“Now more than ever our world needs writers, environmentalists, poets, commentators, politicians and artists who together can shape stories of hope, courage and change,” says Festival Director Edwina Johnson.

“Now in its 23rd year, Byron Writers Festival embraces audiences and authors from far and wide for three unforgettable days that celebrate the power of words and storytelling, creating lasting memories for all who attend.”

The 2019 Program takes us across challenging terrain: from intergenerational trauma to the crisis of democracy. It explores the beautiful and the curious as we contemplate jellyfish, trees, mathematics, teaching and our high tech lives.

We examine how to live better, die better, the force of global infernal fires, to growing up queer in Australia. We honour fathers, contemplate the balance between motherhood and creativity, we sing and are sung to!

Printed programs will be distributed locally this week and will be hitting cafes and bookshops throughout the Northern Rivers, Gold Coast and further afield next week. Digital copies are available to download on their website today:
