Byron United AGM

The Board of Byron United was re-elected at the AGM held on 21 August 2007. Ed Ahern will continue as President, ably assisted by Vice Presidents James Lancaster and Sevegne Newton. New to the Board is Ron King from Summerland Coaches and continuing on are John Gudgeon, Brad Heydon and Grant Hawkins. High on their agenda for this year are tourism management for Byron Bay, ensuring Byron Bay has a distributor or by-pass road before long, as well as undertaking a visioning process for the town of Byron Bay, which will tie in with the Council DCP.

Highlights of the last couple of months included Herb Elliott, successful businessman and gold medallist, talk at Breakfast in the Bay. Just recently Deb Cox, who is co-producer and co-writer of “East of Everything”, the ABC Series filmed in Byron Bay, was guest speaker at a Business Women’s Lunch.

Byron United sponsors a number of festivals held in Byron Bay including the Writers’ Festival, the Underwater Festival, A Taste of Byron and Byron Bay Film Festival. The Board believes the success of these events has great benefit to businesses in the area.
