North Coast Regional Chambers of Commerce president Peter Lubins has welcomed Prime Minister John Howard’s plans for the Pacific Highway.
Mr Howard has announced the Government will spend an extra $2.4 billion on the highway between 2009 and 2014.
The 12-member regional group includes many chambers along the Pacific Highway route in northern New South Wales from the Manning Valley to Ballina.
Mr Lubins says the extra money is welcome.
“You hear my heels clicking,” he said.
“The more money that we can put to fixing up these black spots and this major road the better. It’s really time that it happened.”
