Ballina RSL announced a major $9.5 million renovation today which will transform the club to reflect new trends in food and entertainment for the community.
CEO Bill Coulter said it had been eight years since the last round of upgrades to the club and the changes were now needed ‘in order to meet the needs of our growing demographic and membership.’
The club employs over 150 locals and construction will put even more jobs and money into the local economy
Stage one of the renovation will create a new bar, café and sports lounge on the first floor. This includes relocating the current poker machines to the first floor to a new indoor/outdoor gaming area and new restrooms.
In order to ensure easy access to level one an additional lift is part of the upgrade
Mr Coulter said it would be business as usual during the renovations and there would be minimal disruptions.
“Club trading hours will remain as normal and our entertainment program will continue throughout 2016. All our dining areas and bars will be open as usual. We aim for minimal disruption for our members and guests.”
Stage one is hoped to be completed late Dec/ early Jan
Stage 2 is still in the planning process to see the creation of ‘destination dining experiences’ on the ground floor.
‘This promises to provide members and their guests with a more diverse food offering combined with flexible seating options,’ Mr Coulter said.
‘There will be more exciting announcements on this stage of the project as plans and concepts are further developed,’ he added.
Plans of both stage 1 and 2 are on view in the foyer of the club and members are encouraged to give feedback via: feedback@ballinarsl,com.au
