Slowing Consumer Demand may 'Impact' Traders
A New South Wales north coast economist says despite positive data, north coast businesses are still struggling.
The latest business forecast from Access Economics suggests the state’s economy is on a slow recovery thanks to growth in the housing and job markets.
But Professor Ian Eddy from Southern Cross University says as interest rates continue to rise, local consumer spending will be down.
“Well the north coast is also recovering as the economic situation improves but there is still a lot of uncertainties on the horizon and this is slowing down consumer demand and that will have an impact on north coast businesses, there has been a fall in consumer spending lately,” he said.
