Rain Eases but Flood Warning Remains
Rainfall eased across the Northern Rivers overnight, reducing the risk of significant flooding.
A minor flood warning remains in place for the Richmond River at Coraki and further downstream.
Graham Bonhamie from the Richmond-Tweed State Emergency Service says the river level was 3.34 metres at Coraki at 6:00am (AEDT).
He says it was well below the peak predicted for that time.
Mr Bonhamie says any more rain could pose problems.
“Coraki and Woodburn units are still maintaining a monitoring watch over the whole situation and one of the biggest problems we might have in the future is that all the swamps are full of rainwater,” he said.
“If we do get any more heavy rain this will have an impact on the situation.”
