Editors Note, Summer 2007, 2008
Welcome to your Summer issue of NRBM. We have a bumper issue for you with an expanded Business Matters section covering Insurance, Employment and Training, Retail, Business Planning, Finance, Meetings and Events and many more.
I have to mention our recent storm season which has hit our community hard, the damage has been widespread and businesses have been substantially affected. The declaring of Lismore as a Natural Disaster has allowed access for residents, business owners and the council to financial assistance, including low interest loans and subsidies. We wish them well with their recovery.
Our major feature this issue is on the Clarence, this diverse area covers every environment from city to seaside, rainforest to village. The Clarence Valley is going through an economic revolution fuelled by a growing population and investment in business. The States newest local government is embarking on a major infrastructure program to support continued population increases. Business confidence is high, property values remain healthy and it continues to provide a positive investment environment.
As students finish their HSC’s to enter the workforce, we look at the skills shortages that are affecting our region and a number of organisations who are trying to fill the gaps.
In Meetings and Events we cover new venues in the region, supporting business with a wide range of facilities and services.
We hope this issue kick starts your 2008 Summer season with ideas and innovations to ensure your business rides high.
Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all our NRBM readers.
